Deputy AG Commends Police Professionalism During Democracy Hub Demo

Deputy Attorney General Diana Asonaba Dapaah has praised the Ghana Police Service for their professionalism during the recent Democracy Hub demonstration. In an interview on Pure FM, she clarified that while demonstrations are legal, obstructing traffic is not.
Dapaah addressed bystander arrest reports, citing online videos that justified police actions. She expressed pride in the police’s handling, despite initial criticism. “People insulted the police, but evidence showed protesters claiming to be bystanders were involved in destruction.”
Dapaah emphasized that demonstrating doesn’t grant the right to block roads, especially for hospital access. “The law encourages demonstration, but protesters must respect others’ rights.” She condemned property destruction, noting that crossing the line turns protesters into fanatics rather than concerned campaigners.
