Asiedu Nketiah Takes Oath as New GPHA Board Chairman

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has been officially sworn in as the new Board Chairman of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).

The swearing-in ceremony took place on Wednesday, June 25, marking the beginning of a new leadership phase for one of Ghana’s most critical state agencies in the maritime sector.

Also joining the board is Professor Ransford Gyampo, who currently serves as Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority. His inclusion as a board member is expected to bring academic insight and policy experience to the team.

These appointments form part of a broader initiative aimed at reinforcing the governance structure of the GPHA. The new board has been tasked with overseeing key policy directions, improving efficiency across operations, and driving forward critical infrastructure projects at Ghana’s major ports.

With the strategic importance of Ghana’s ports to the national economy, the new board’s leadership is expected to play a vital role in advancing modernization efforts and boosting trade competitiveness across the West African subregion.
