Ghana School of Law Students laud Scholarship Authority for timely fee support

The Ghana School of Law Students’ Union (Kumasi Campus) has lauded the Ghana Scholarship Authority for the timely disbursement of funds to support local scholarship beneficiaries, describing the intervention as a major relief to students.

In a press statement signed by the Vice President of the Kumasi Campus, Ebenezer Opoku, the student leadership announced that the Scholarship Secretariat has released funds to the Ghana School of Law, Makola, as part payment towards the academic fees of students on government scholarships.

According to the statement, more than 687 students who made an application to the Authority for the award have benefited from the initiative, with GHS 8,000.00 paid on behalf of each beneficiary.

The Union noted that the intervention comes at a critical time where a deadline had been set for fees obligation to be met, easing financial pressures on students and enabling them to concentrate on their legal education and impending mock examination.

Describing the development as timely and impactful, the statement emphasized that the support would go a long way in ensuring a smooth academic experience for beneficiaries.

“The intervention marks a major step in supporting students’ academic pursuits and ensuring a smoother educational experience especially with our mock exams scheduled for this month,” portions of the statement noted.

The Union also conveyed its appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for his continued commitment to education and student welfare, noting that the disbursement reflects a broader national effort to invest in human capital and professional training.

Students who are beneficiaries with credited SMS and email messages from the Scholarship Authority have been advised to follow up with the appropriate administrative offices to confirm the status of their fee payments where necessary.

The leadership in its concluding statement reiterated its commitment to advocating for policies and interventions that promote the welfare and academic success of students at the Kumasi Campus, highlighting that the Government of President Mahama has operated an open door policy, making scholarships award an equal privilege for all.

The Ghana Scholarship Authority, led by its Director-General, Alex Kwaku Asafo Agyei, has begun disbursing funds to local scholarship beneficiaries across the country as part of Government’s efforts to streamline support for students.

The ongoing exercise is expected to benefit hundreds of students in various tertiary institutions, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their academic progress.

The Government is set to once again open the application portal for local scholarship applications for financial constraints students who may not have taken advantage of the earlier window.
