Tensions flared on the floor of Parliament last week, as minority leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin launched a sharp attack on Grace Ayensu-Danquah, Member of Parliament for Essikado-Ketan.
The exchange occurred during proceedings on the Governance Advisory Council Bill 2025, when Hon. Ayensu-Danquah moved a motion for the bill to be read a second time.
Her submission was met with strong opposition from the Minority Leader, who openly challenged her position on the floor.
Parliament, on Friday, March 27, 2026, passed the Governance Advisory Council bill, an independent body aimed at bolstering accountability, combat corruption and protecting human rights.
This office is to beef up efforts to fight corruption by ensuring that duty bearers are accountable for their stewardships.
But the proceedings was not without the usual heated exchanges between the Minority leader and Dr Ayensu-Danquah
Expressing concerns about this development, Dr Ayensu-Danuah raised questions about decorum and the tone of engagement in the House.
