Kwasi Mensah on Speaker Bagbin

Whoever thinks Speaker Bagbin is defending democracy is pathetically ill-informed about rule of law, constitutional democracy and good governance. Bagbin’s parliament is the most incompetent since 1993; with him in the Speaker’s seat, the 8th parliament has been shabily hasty in almost every major parliamentary decision in the last four years. Consequently, his parliament has also been subjected to needless public ridicule, in-fighting within the chamber, and avoidable back and forth over matters that could wait for appropriateness. Why would any right-thinking citizen praise an overbearing, domineering, and completely out-of-order speaker as a defender of the law he has desperately sought to disrespect?
