Wisconsin University College celebrates six years of impact, graduates 470 students

The Wisconsin International University College, Ghana (WIUC-GH), Feyiase Campus, on Saturday, held its 3rd graduation ceremony amidst pomp and pageantry, celebrating six years of academic excellence and transformative education since its establishment in the Ashanti Region.

A total of 470 students successfully graduated in various disciplines during the colourful event, which brought together dignitaries, educationists, parents, traditional authorities, and members of the local community to honour the achievements of the new graduates.

Representing the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Municipal Chief Executive for Asokore Mampong, Hon. Ben Abdallah Alhassan, commended the University for its growing contribution to tertiary education in the region. He challenged tertiary institutions to place greater emphasis on practical skills and innovation rather than excessive theoretical instruction.

“The world is now moving towards skills-based education,” Dr. Amoakohene noted. “Government initiatives such as the Adwuma Wura programme are focused on equipping the youth with employable skills. We should train our graduates in fields like software development so that Ghana can even secure international contracts while our youth work from home.”

He further encouraged the graduates to view their success not as the end, but as the beginning of a lifelong journey, urging them to embrace humility, diligence, and service — particularly those entering the health sector and other service-oriented professions.

The District Chief Executive for Bosomtwe, Hon. Engr. Abdullah Hamidu, also lauded the leadership of Wisconsin International University College, especially Dr. Paul Kofi Fynn, Chancellor of WIUC-GH, and the dedicated faculty for their unwavering commitment to nurturing the next generation of professionals.

He disclosed that the government is engaging private tertiary institutions to create pathways for graduate employment while strengthening the implementation of TVET and STEM policies to align education with the demands of the modern economy.

“In the Bosomtwe Constituency alone, we are proud to have two universities,” Hon. Hamidu said. “We are working closely with private school management to ensure that our graduates transition smoothly into the world of work.”

The ceremony reflected Wisconsin’s continuous dedication to producing well-rounded, industry-ready graduates equipped to make meaningful contributions to Ghana’s development.

Since opening its Feyiase campus six years ago, Wisconsin International University College has steadily expanded its academic offerings and infrastructure, positioning itself as a beacon of excellence in the Ashanti Region and beyond.

The event ended with moments of joy and pride as the newly minted graduates tossed their caps in the air – a symbol of triumph, hope, and new beginnings.
