Campaign Spokesperson for Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Eric Amoako Twum, has urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to avoid a “trial and error” approach in choosing its next flagbearer ahead of the 2028 elections.
Appearing on the Pure Morning Drive on Pure 95.7FM with Kwame Adinkra, Mr. Twum said the NPP’s 2024 defeat offers the party a chance to reflect and make a clear, strategic decision that will restore its chances of winning power in 2028.
“Our 2024 defeat calls for calm reflection and the choice of a candidate who can deliver victory in 2028 — Dr. Bryan Acheampong is the best person to do that for the NPP,” he stated.
Highlighting Dr. Acheampong’s leadership credentials, he added that the Abetifi MP’s track record in public service and government positions makes him well-prepared to lead both party and country.
“Dr. Bryan Acheampong’s extensive leadership experience at the Ministries of National Security, Interior, and Agriculture demonstrates his competence and readiness to serve as President,” he said.
Mr. Twum also cautioned the NPP against relying solely on political branding or popularity stunts when selecting its next leader.
“We may brand a candidate in many ways, but if the people do not like him, they simply will not. We must avoid trial and error and choose a candidate capable of winning the 2028 elections — Dr. Bryan Acheampong is that candidate who inspires hope and appeals to Ghanaians,” he added.
