The Asokore Mampong Rural Bank PLC has demonstrated exceptional resilience and growth, recording a remarkable operational performance for the 2025 financial year as it held its 4th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders in the Asokore Mampong Municipal District of the Ashanti Region. The meeting, held on Friday, November 14, 2025, drew a large gathering of traditional leaders, legal practitioners, representatives of sister rural banks, and an enthusiastic shareholder base, highlighting the strong confidence the community continues to place in the bank.
Against the backdrop of a turbulent national economy, the bank posted a profit before tax of GHS 1.6 million, representing a significant 157 percent increase, equivalent to GHS 630,000, over its 2024 performance. Addressing shareholders, Vice Chairman of the Board, Mr Sefa Dankwa, explained that the year under review was marked by severe macroeconomic pressures following the government’s Domestic Debt Exchange Programme, unprecedented inflation, higher borrowing costs and one of the steepest depreciations of the Ghana cedi in decades, which pushed many businesses to use foreign currencies as a store of value.
Mr Dankwa noted that despite these challenges, the bank successfully redefined its operational strategies by reassessing its strengths, weaknesses, external threats and opportunities, and implementing measures that allowed it to achieve outstanding results across its financial indicators. This, he said, was proof of the bank’s agility, discipline and commitment to delivering value to its stakeholders.
He further highlighted the bank’s continued dedication to community development, stating that Asokore Mampong Rural Bank spent GHS 46,489 on Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives during the year. These interventions supported basic education, community development projects, Otumfuo’s Heal Komfo Anokye Project, women empowerment programmes and sporting activities, reinforcing the bank’s mission to uplift the communities in which it operates.
Adding to its achievements, the bank was honoured as the Best Rural Bank at the Ashanti Business Merit Awards, organised by The Business Executive at the Lancaster Hotel in Kumasi, a recognition that reflects its strong operational standards and impactful social presence.
Mr Dankwa encouraged shareholders and businesses within the Asokore Mampong township to acquire more shares to strengthen the bank’s capital base and sustain its growth, emphasising the rich legacy left by the late Board Chairman, Nana Boakye Ansah Debrah, whose leadership continues to inspire the bank’s vision. He also announced plans to construct a new branch in Adum, Kumasi, which will become the bank’s fourth branch and further extend its reach within the region.
Asokore Mampong Rural Bank PLC continues to position itself as a leading force in rural banking, combining financial performance, community impact and strategic expansion to secure a brighter future for all stakeholders.
