Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, popularly known as King Zuba, reinforced his reputation as a champion of media excellence at the 29th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards, presenting two prestigious awards at the historic Manhyia Palace under the gracious watch of His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Hon. Boadi honored Graphic Communications’ Edmund Smith Asante with the award for Best Columnist (Print), while Samuel Dowouna was recognized as Best Columnist (Online) for his outstanding contributions to Ghanaian journalism.
The event drew a distinguished gathering, including His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II- King of the Ashanti Kingdom, President John Dramani Mahama- President of the Republic of Ghana, Acting Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, and Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin. Their presence underscored the importance of journalism in promoting accountability, transparency, and societal development in Ghana.
Speaking at the sidelines after presenting the awards, the Kumasi Mayor praised the awardees for their dedication to truth-telling and insightful reporting. “Journalism is the heartbeat of democracy,” he remarked, “and these awards celebrate those who elevate the profession with integrity and excellence.”
The 29th GJA Awards highlighted the remarkable achievements of journalists across the nation, celebrating individuals who have consistently shaped public discourse through their commitment to ethical reporting.
The event was held under the theme: “Safeguarding Ghana’s future: The role of the media in promoting peace, security and the fight against galamsey.”
