The Deputy Minister for Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi, has held talks with the French Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Diarra Dimé-Labille, in a meeting that highlighted the strong and enduring defence relations between Ghana and France.
The meeting took place at the Ministry of Defence in Accra, where the two officials discussed issues of mutual interest and the longstanding cooperation that has existed between the two countries over the years.
Sharing details of the engagement on his Facebook page, Hon. Brogya Genfi described the visit as a reflection of the warm ties that continue to exist between Accra and Paris.
“I had the honour of receiving at the Square, Ministry of Defence Ghana, Her Excellency Ambassador Diarra Dimé-Labille. Our discussions focused on the long-standing defence partnership between Ghana and France. Her visit underscores the deep bonds of cooperation and mutual respect that continue to strengthen the relationship between our two countries,” he wrote.
The visit comes as Ghana continues to engage key international partners on issues of security and defence cooperation amid growing concerns about instability in parts of the West African sub-region.
Although details of the discussions were not disclosed, the meeting is seen as another indication of the close working relationship between Ghana and France, particularly in areas relating to security, military cooperation and regional peace.
France has been one of Ghana’s longstanding partners, with the two countries collaborating on a number of initiatives over the years. The latest engagement between Hon. Brogya Genfi and Ambassador Diarra Dimé-Labille is expected to further deepen that relationship.
