Gabon’s President, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, who overthrew former President, Ali Bongo and later won the Presidential elections, is scheduled to undertake a three-day official visit to Ghana from July 28 to 30, 2026, following an invitation from President John Dramani Mahama.
President Oligui Nguema will arrive in Ghana with a high-level delegation made up of government ministers, senior officials and representatives of the Gabonese business community.
The visit is expected to further deepen the growing relationship between Ghana and Gabon, with the two countries set to explore opportunities for expanded cooperation across several sectors.
On July 28, President Oligui Nguema and President Mahama will first hold a tête-à-tête meeting before leading official bilateral discussions at the Jubilee House in Accra.
The talks will focus on the state of relations between the two countries and ways to broaden cooperation in areas including political and diplomatic engagement, trade and investment, mining, energy, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, maritime affairs, transport, tourism, education, healthcare, defence and security.
Other areas expected to feature in the discussions include environmental protection, climate action and people-to-people exchanges.
According to the Presidency, the two leaders will also reaffirm their commitment to strengthening Ghana-Gabon relations and advancing sustainable economic development for the benefit of their respective populations.
