Ghana and the United Kingdom have renewed their commitment to deepening defence and security collaboration following a high-level engagement in Accra.
A UK delegation, led by Ben Merrick, Director of Defence and Security at the UK Ministry of Defence, and Air Vice Marshal Mark Flewin, Deputy Chief of Defence Staff (Military Strategy), paid a courtesy call on Ghana’s Ministry of Defence. The delegation also included the UK Defence Attaché to Ghana and senior staff from the British High Commission.
Welcoming the delegation, Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Defence, Hon. Ernest Yaw Brogya Genfi, said the meeting was a significant step towards reinforcing strategic cooperation between the two countries.
“Their visit served as a formal introduction to the Ministry and an opportunity to lay the groundwork for deeper collaboration — not just bilaterally, but across the West African sub-region,” Mr. Genfi stated.
He added that Ghana looks forward to strengthening its defence partnership with the United Kingdom in areas that promote stability and peace.
“We are committed to working with the United Kingdom to advance our shared objectives of security, peace, and strategic cooperation,” the Deputy Minister affirmed.
The visit forms part of ongoing efforts by both nations to boost defence diplomacy and align strategies in addressing regional and global security challenges.
