Mavis Osei: The Visionary Behind Miss Ghana UK

This year’s Miss Ghana UK once again paid tribute to Ghana’s rich heritage and culture under the theme “Cocoa: Past, Present and Future.” At the centre of it all was Mavis Osei, the visionary CEO whose passion and leadership continue to shape the success of this iconic cultural event.

For over three decades, Mavis Osei has championed the empowerment of young Ghanaian women in the UK and beyond. Her vision for Miss Ghana UK has always gone beyond beauty — it is about identity, heritage, and empowerment. Each year, the event provides a platform for young women to embrace their roots, celebrate Ghanaian excellence, and inspire others within the diaspora.

The 2025 edition highlighted cocoa’s vital role in Ghana’s story — from its deep historical roots as a symbol of national pride, to its continued impact on global markets and sustainable development. Contestants and performers paid homage to this legacy through creative showcases that reflected the theme’s essence.

Reflecting on this year’s event, Mavis Osei shared:

“Cocoa represents Ghana’s strength and contribution to the world. It reminds us of our past, challenges us in the present, and inspires us to build a better future. Through this theme, we wanted to honour the farmers, families, and generations who have made Ghana’s cocoa heritage a global treasure.”

Under Mavis Osei’s continued leadership, Miss Ghana UK has evolved into one of the most respected and enduring pageants within the Ghanaian diaspora, celebrating culture, confidence, and community. Her legacy continues to inspire new generations to take pride in their Ghanaian identity while pursuing excellence on a global stage.

Miss Ghana UK 2025 was a night of elegance, empowerment, and cultural pride — a true celebration of Ghana’s story, beautifully brought to life by the woman who started it all.

Recognising the importance of holistic well-being, Mavis launched her active wear brand May&Co Activewear in 2021 has been a passionate advocate for health and fitness, particularly among women over 40. She aims to launch May&Co Active Revive and Connect workshops and wellness programs in 2026 aimed at encouraging 40+ women to prioritise their physical and mental health. Her initiatives have empowered countless individuals to lead healthier lifestyles, fostering a sense of community and support among participants.
