Dennis Miracles Aboagye, a leading figure in the communication architecture of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former Communications Director of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s 2024 presidential campaign, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of National Communications Director of the party.
His announcement adds a significant voice to the race for one of the NPP’s most influential national executive positions as the party undertakes a reorganization process aimed at rebuilding and repositioning itself for future electoral success.
Announcing his decision on Sunday, Mr. Aboagye presented himself as a candidate ready to lead the party’s communication efforts at a critical moment in its history.
“Today I offer myself to serve. I am contesting for National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party. Our message is strong. Our record is defensible. What we need now is a communications team that does not flinch or surrender,” he stated.
He stressed the need for a communications machinery that remains resolute in projecting the party’s achievements and values while effectively countering political opposition.
“The opposition and intimidation will not define us. We will define ourselves. Let’s stand shoulder to shoulder to work and bring the NPP back to power,” he added.
The declaration, accompanied by the campaign theme “Built to Lead. Ready to Win,” has already generated discussion within political circles and among party supporters, many of whom view the position as crucial to the NPP’s efforts to reconnect with the electorate and strengthen its public engagement strategy.
Mr. Aboagye is widely regarded as one of the party’s most experienced communicators. Over the years, he has built a reputation as a strategic political operative and media personality, combining grassroots political experience with professional expertise in marketing and public communication.
A Chartered Marketer and holder of an MBA in Marketing from Central University, he previously served as Municipal Chief Executive for Akuapem North before taking on key responsibilities at the Presidency, including Director for Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development and Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation.
His national profile rose considerably during the 2024 election campaign when he served as spokesperson and later Communications Director for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential bid, becoming one of the principal voices defending government policies and articulating the NPP’s campaign message across traditional and digital media platforms.
Some Political analysts have already begun saying that Dennis’ entry into the race signals a desire by some within the party to place experienced communicators at the forefront of the NPP’s rebuilding agenda. With the party preparing for internal elections and laying the groundwork for the 2028 general elections, the communications portfolio is expected to play a central role in shaping public perception, mobilising support, and projecting the party’s vision.
