MTN Ghana Accelerates “Ambition 2025” with Media Stakeholder Forum in Kumasi

MTN Ghana has reignited momentum behind its Ambition 2025 strategy at a stakeholder media forum held at the Lancaster Hotel in Kumasi, unveiling enhanced operational plans in the Ashanti Region with a sharpened focus on digital innovation, environmental stewardship, and customer-centric growth.

Adwoa Afriyie Wiafe, the company’s Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Officer, emphasized that the “Ambition 2025” framework—launched in 2021 is firmly rooted in environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles. She underscored MTN’s dedication to ensuring that its operations benefit local communities, stating:

“We have positioned ourselves to do more in terms of operations in the Ashanti Region, embedded in environmental, social and developmental advancements.”

She further clarified the company’s multi-pronged approach to building a sustainable business:

“Our focus is to ensure that communities we serve are not adversely impacted by our operations. We strive to be ethical in our dealings, enhance capacity, expand coverage, deliver quality services, and build a robust business that will last into the future.”

Highlighting MTN’s financial muscle behind these ambitions, other panelists revealed that the company has invested USD 245 million in the current year alone, aimed at enhancing network performance and enriching customer experience.

Broader Investment and Growth Context

The Kumasi event ties directly into MTN’s larger national strategy under the “Ambition 2025” banner. Recent reports confirm that MTN Ghana is well on track toward fulfilling a USD 1 billion investment pledge over five years, with USD 240 million already allocated to network expansion in 2025 . In May 2025, CEO Stephen Blewett reaffirmed this commitment, citing confidence in Ghana’s digital economy and calling on private-sector leaders to join in that vision .

The company’s push for sustainable growth is also reflected in its latest financial results. MTN Ghana posted a 26.3% year-on-year profit increase, delivering a strong GH₵5.028 billion in profit for 2024 .

What It Means for Ashanti and Beyond

With the Ashanti Region being a vital part of its footprint, MTN’s media engagement underlines its intent to deliver better connectivity, stronger customer experience, and ethical service delivery.

Media Practitioner and News Editor, Michael Ofosu-Afriyie, who participated in the stakeholder forum intimated the $245 million dedicated to network enhancements signals MTN strong commitment to bridging digital divides within the region.

“With this investment, combined with its documented ‘ESG focus’ and sustained capital investment, MTN’s “Ambition 2025” initiative positions the company not only as a telecom provider but also as a development partner in Ghana’s broader digital transformation.
