Businessman and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has expressed deep concern and solidarity with the management and staff of Pure FM following a fire incident that ravaged the station’s studios in Kumasi.
In a heartfelt message to the staff and listeners of the station on his official X handle, the former Assin Central MP described the incident as a major setback not only for Pure FM but for the entire media landscape in Ghana.
“I am deeply saddened by the devastating fire that has destroyed Pure FM. This is a worrying moment for the entire media fraternity and for all who cherish the truth,” he stated.
Mr. Agyapong lauded the station’s contribution to media freedom and public discourse, emphasizing that Pure FM plays a crucial role in shaping informed opinion. He expressed optimism about the station’s ability to recover, likening its expected comeback to the legendary rise of the phoenix.
“Pure FM’s voice is too vital to be silenced. You have shown resilience before and I am confident that, like the phoenix, Pure FM will rise from these ashes stronger than ever,” he said.
Assuring the station of his support, the outspoken MP added, “You are not alone. I stand with you in this difficult time.”
Pure FM, located in Patasi, Kumasi, suffered extensive damage after a fire gutted its studios earlier this week. Although no injuries were reported, the station lost all its broadcating equipment to the fire.
The station has since received an outpouring of goodwill from political figures, businesses, media entities and members of the public, all pledging support to help restore operations as quickly as possible.
