Prominent businessman and longtime National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporter, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdul Jalil, popularly known as “Director Arisky,” has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Northern Regional Chairman of the party.
Alhaji Jalil, the Chief Executive Officer of Might Construction Limited, announced his decision in a communiqué copied to the media, outlining a vision centered on unity, dedicated service, effective leadership, and electoral success.
A well-known figure within the NDC in the Northern Region, Director Arisky has built a reputation for supporting youth, women, and grassroots development initiatives. His involvement in both business and public service has seen him occupy several high-level leadership positions, including serving as a Board Member of Ghana Water Limited.
In his declaration, he pledged to work towards building a stronger, more united, and vibrant NDC capable of consolidating the party’s gains and enhancing its electoral fortunes in the region.
Alhaji Jalil also brings considerable experience in party administration. Until 2020, he served as the Tamale South Constituency Treasurer, a position he held from 2004, making him one of the longest-serving constituency executives in the area. The Tamale South Constituency is currently represented in Parliament by Education Minister and NDC stalwart, Haruna Iddrisu.
He has called on party members, stakeholders, and supporters to embrace his candidature in the spirit of unity, mutual respect, and democratic participation as the party prepares for its internal elections.
The NDC is expected to hold its regional executive elections in November 2026 to elect new regional leadership across the country, setting the stage for what is anticipated to be a keenly contested race in the Northern Region.
