Withdraw GRA’s stationed tax officers at our shops or we demonstrate- Ultimate Fashion CEO to Gov’t

“MEGA DEMONSTRATION IS UP NEXT” – ULTIMATE FASHION CEO

The Chief Executive Officer of Ultimate Fashion Boutique, Mr. William Addo has expressed that,
many business owners are losing their capitals in the country due to the constant cedi depreciation, Purefmonline.com reports .

The CEO made this remark on Kumasi-based Pure FM in an interview with Kwame Adinkrah, which he explained the sorry state of business proprietors nationwide.

“Kwame if you’re interested in importing goods worth $100,000, you will presently need GHC1,120,000. Just this January, the same value would have been procured for GHC600,000”, He lamented.

“What kind of business has close to a hundred percent profitability within a duration of six months? We want the government to be committed toward crippling the dollar’s upswing.”

In his submission, Mr William Addo exclaimed that their secondary difficulty relates to tax matters which many tag it as a tango with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

According to him, government has lately resulted to commissioning GRA staff to businesses as stationed officers to conduct daily sales check and balancing of accounts with owners.

“That is not so. It is a fight with the government instead. The policy was not formulated by GRA it rather government. The former only implements what policy is made by the latter.”

“What’s happening currently is that after a manufacturer is taxed on his product, say 18% or 19%, the wholesaler will also pay same tax rate, likewise the retailer, moving down to the consumer or customer.”

“We have severally complained against this practice in many engagements voicing out our frustrations yet government has consistently remained stiff-necked in all interactions. This is the case we are having”, He expanded.

He categorically pronounced that, such insolence to their plight and challenges of the business fraternity, has contributed to the decision reached to showcase their heightened discontentment after mid-week.

He said they are fully prepared to push forth their ordeal to the wire without compromising their stance.

“If our complaints remained unaddressed, we will hold a mega demonstration in Kumasi on Thursday, October 13, 2022. If it has not happened before, they should watch and see.”

Mr. William Addo denounced the notion that prices have soared abroad where most goods are imported from, insisting that, the economic misfortunes in the system is wholly owed to the wrongful internal management of the dollar-cedi correlation.

In unison, the business community, he insisted, shall not adhere to anything from government, except than been granted their tabled demands; the withdrawal of the stationed tax officers at our shops and cancellation of the current taxing structure.

Purefmonline.com has so far gathered that, a communication from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to station officers at businesses, was met with shop owners who have continued to close their shops since Monday, at Adum, within the Central Business District of Kumasi.
