‘You are a true symbol of unity for the NPP’ — Savannah Executives tell Afoko

The atmosphere at the New Patriotic Party’s regional secretariat in Damongo was charged with excitement and optimism as NPP National Chairman hopeful, Paul Awentami Afoko, engaged party faithful in the Savannah Region.

What began as a routine consultative meeting quickly evolved into a powerful moment of reconciliation, renewed commitment, and strategic reflection on the party’s path back to power in 2028.

Regional Executives, members of the Council of Elders, and party Patrons who gathered at the meeting were unanimous in their admiration for Mr. Afoko, describing his return to frontline politics as both timely and symbolic.

“You have become a true symbol of unity for the NPP considering all you have gone through,” one Regional Executive told him during the engagement.

Another added, “Your second coming is a blessing to the party.”

For many party members present, Afoko’s political journey — from serving as National Chairman between 2014 and 2015, stepping away from active leadership, and now returning with a renewed vision — reflects the resilience of the NPP and its ability to overcome internal challenges.

That message of reconciliation resonated strongly throughout the engagement.

“I am inspired to put certain things behind me,” a Regional Executive remarked, noting that Afoko’s calm persistence and continued connection with the grassroots had helped shift attention away from past grievances toward rebuilding the party for victory.

Party members described him as a model of patience, resilience, and unity, praising his consistent engagement with the party base even during periods when he was out of the political spotlight.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Afoko outlined his “3R Agenda” — Reunite, Rebuild, and Recapture — stressing that unity alone would not be enough unless it was backed by a clear strategy to return the NPP to government in 2028.

He urged party members in the Savannah Region to begin strengthening polling station structures, improving voter mobilisation and data management, and intensifying grassroots engagement well ahead of the election season.

“The NPP’s strength is our ability to absorb setbacks and return stronger and smarter,” Mr. Afoko stated.

“That is how we reclaim power in 2028, and it starts with discipline and organisation in regions like Savannah.”

He further described the 2028 election as a critical mission to restore confidence in party structures, reconnect with the grassroots, and ensure that no region within the party feels neglected.

The meeting ended on a highly enthusiastic note, with handshakes and chants of support filling the hall as party faithful openly declared their backing for his ambition.

The final message from the gathering was unanimous: “We wish you all the best.”

For Mr. Afoko, the Savannah Region engagement was more than a routine political stop — it was a strong endorsement of his renewed push for the NPP’s national chairmanship.

The visit forms part of his ongoing nationwide consultations aimed at consolidating support ahead of the party’s internal contest, with his campaign message remaining clear: rebuild the NPP from the grassroots and do it together.
