In a moment marking both sorrow and reverence, Dr. Kwaku Oteng, renowned entrepreneur and founder of Angel Group of Companies has extended heartfelt condolences to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, following the recent passing of Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III, the Queen Mother of the Asante Kingdom.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III, the 14th Queen Mother of the Asante Kingdom, passed away peacefully on 7 August 2025 at the age of 98. She was widely respected for her wisdom, philanthropic work, and role in preserving the cultural heritage of the Asante people. Her passing was formally announced at an emergency meeting of the Kumasi Traditional Council, with a one-week observance scheduled for 21 August 2025 at the Manhyia Palace.
Dr. Oteng, who has deep ties to the Ashanti Region through his extensive business operations and philanthropy, visited the Manhyia Palace to personally express his sympathies to the King.
“Your Majesty, I share in your grief. The Asantehemaa was not only a custodian of our traditions but a mother to all, whose guidance and care touched many lives. Her memory will remain a source of unity and inspiration,” Dr. Oteng said.
The passing of Nana Konadu Yiadom III follows that of her predecessor, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, who reigned for 39 years and died in November 2016 at the age of 109. Her funeral was marked by strict cultural observances, including curfews in Kumasi and traditional mourning rites.
Dr. Oteng, celebrated for his journey from humble beginnings to building one of Ghana’s most diversified conglomerates, is known for honouring traditional authority while advancing modern enterprise. His gesture, according to observers, reflects the enduring bond between the business community and traditional leadership in the Ashanti Kingdom.
Funeral arrangements for the late Asantehemaa are expected to follow centuries-old royal customs, drawing mourners from across Ghana and beyond.
