Ghana Seeded in Pot 1 for AFCON 2025 Qualifiers Draw

Ghana has been placed in Pot 1 for the upcoming draw of the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, alongside powerhouses like Ivory Coast, Senegal, Egypt, and host nation Morocco. The seeding is based on the latest FIFA rankings (June 20, 2024).
The 48 qualified teams have been divided into four pots, with the teams to be grouped into 12 groups of four (Group A to L). The top two teams from each group, except the one containing hosts Morocco, will qualify for the tournament. If Morocco finishes first or second in their group, they will qualify alongside the other top team in their group.
The draw will take place on July 4, 2024, in Johannesburg, South Africa, determining Ghana’s path to the 2025 AFCON tournament. The Black Stars, four-time champions, aim for a favorable draw to secure qualification and end their trophy drought since 1982. They have been knocked out in the group stage in the last two editions.
