If NPP’s Flagbearer Election Were Held Today, Bawumia Would Win Massively – Fred Oware

Senior member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Fred Oware, has declared that former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia remains the clear favorite to win the party’s flagbearer race.
Speaking in a phone interview on Kumasi-based Pure FM, Mr. Oware stated that if the NPP were to hold its flagbearer election today, Dr. Bawumia would record a massive victory over his competitors. He attributed this confidence to the Vice President’s strong grassroots following, his economic transformation agenda, and the widespread acceptance he enjoys across the regions.
Mr. Oware emphasized that Dr. Bawumia’s accessibility to party delegates has endeared him to the rank and file of the NPP. According to him, the Vice President’s commitment to party unity and his ability to connect with ordinary members give him a decisive edge in the contest.
He also dismissed allegations that Bryan Acheampong, Minister for Food and Agriculture, had paid delegates in the Eastern Region on behalf of Dr. Bawumia. “That allegation is factually not true and only meant to mislead the public,” he stressed.
As the NPP’s internal race intensifies, Oware maintained that Dr. Bawumia’s campaign remains focused on transparency, fairness, and direct engagement with delegates on key national issues. He expressed confidence that when the time comes, the Vice President will emerge as the party’s flagbearer to lead the NPP into the 2024 general elections.
