We Need a Bold Leader Like Kennedy Agyapong” — Dr. Emmanuel Amankwah

Dr. Emmanuel Amankwah, a lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has called for bold and decisive leadership within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), arguing that Kennedy Agyapong best fits that description.
Speaking on Pure FM, Dr. Amankwah described Kennedy Agyapong as a true grassroots politician who has consistently supported the party in every possible way. According to him, Ken’s commitment goes beyond rhetoric, as he has contributed financially to the party, supported numerous causes as a philanthropist, and created jobs for many Ghanaians.
He noted that despite the challenges involved in job creation, Kennedy Agyapong has continued to invest and create opportunities for people, demonstrating a practical understanding of economics. “He is a practical economist,” Dr. Amankwah stated, adding that Ken clearly understands that unemployment remains one of the country’s biggest challenges and is prepared to directly address it.
Dr. Amankwah also challenged the argument that a candidate’s repeated participation in elections should automatically disqualify them. He stressed that such claims must be backed by facts and should not be used loosely in this particular contest. In his view, Kennedy Agyapong deserves a fair chance to lead.
While acknowledging that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is a fine gentleman, Dr. Amankwah argued that leadership requires more than good character alone. “You need power and boldness,” he said. He further commended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the support he gave Dr. Bawumia, stating that he gives the President a thumbs up for standing by his Vice President.
However, he added that Dr. Bawumia had the opportunity to fully demonstrate his worth during his time as Vice President and that the moment now calls for a different kind of leadership. “We need a bold leader,” he emphasized.
Dr. Amankwah concluded by urging party delegates to look beyond conventional perceptions and recognize that Kennedy Agyapong is not just an ordinary individual. According to him, Ken enjoys massive support at the grassroots level and is genuinely loved by the people, making him deserving of the opportunity to lead.
