Ashanti Is the Key to NPP’s 2028 Comeback; Vote for Proven Leadership – Henry Kwabena Kokofu

NPP Ashanti Regional Chairmanship hopeful, Hon. Henry Kwabena Kokofu, has urged delegates to elect an experienced and competent leader capable of uniting the party and positioning it for victory in the 2028 general elections.
Speaking on Pure FM, Mr. Kokofu said there is a broad understanding within the New Patriotic Party that its path back to power must begin in the Ashanti Region, widely regarded as the party’s electoral stronghold. He therefore stressed the need for delegates to carefully choose a regional chairman who can strengthen the party’s base and lead it to success.
He expressed confidence in his chances of winning the regional chairmanship, citing his leadership experience, achievements and longstanding service to the party. According to him, delegates would vote for him based on his proven record and vision for the region rather than mere popularity.
Mr. Kokofu also expressed optimism about the NPP’s prospects in the 2028 general elections, predicting victory for the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and a return to a parliamentary majority.
He said reclaiming parliamentary seats lost in the Ashanti Region would be a major priority under his leadership, while also targeting opposition-held constituencies such as Asawase, New Edubiase and Sekyere Afram Plains.
Touching on the party’s internal challenges, the chairmanship hopeful identified disunity, indiscipline and poor communication as the key concerns raised by party members during his campaign. He pledged to address these issues by promoting inclusiveness, discipline and effective communication.
Mr. Kokofu disclosed that his leadership would be guided by the recommendations put together after the NPP’s electoral defeat under the leadership of former Majority Leader, Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, describing them as a blueprint for rebuilding the party across all constituencies.
He further indicated that dispute resolution would be one of his top priorities if elected. According to him, professional negotiation and mediation would be introduced to help resolve conflicts within the party, ensuring that every member is given a fair hearing before decisions are taken.
“As a leader, you must listen to all sides whenever issues arise. A leader must also be disciplined,” he said, adding that these are qualities he intends to bring to the office of Ashanti Regional Chairman.
