Ashanti NPP Has No Excuse to Fail — Dennis Kwakwa

Speaking on Pure FM, Dennis Kwakwa, the Ashanti Regional Organiser-elect of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed confidence in the newly elected regional executives, saying their selection has placed a huge responsibility on them to deliver for the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Mr Kwakwa said delegates in the Ashanti Region had demonstrated good judgement by electing people they considered capable of doing the work required to strengthen the party and improve its fortunes.

He said the margins recorded by some of the successful candidates reflected the confidence delegates had in their ability to perform, adding that the new executives must now justify the trust placed in them.

“Based on the selection of the executives in the Ashanti Region, we cannot afford to fail. We have no excuse to fail,” he said.

Mr Kwakwa said his major objective would be to take the party back to the grassroots and reconnect it with the people. He noted that achieving that goal would require strategic work beyond what was visible on social media.

According to him, much of the work he intends to undertake would focus on strategy, organisation and grassroots mobilisation, with the impact expected to be seen in the party’s performance in the 2028 elections.

He also pointed to his personal commitment to the NPP, recalling that he resigned from his job to campaign for the party’s 2024 presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Mr Kwakwa said his decision to leave his employment demonstrated the extent of the sacrifices he was prepared to make for the party, questioning who had worked harder than him in the Ashanti Region during the campaign.

Touching on the election of the party’s national executives, he said some of the positions appeared to have already attracted significant support, citing Justin Kodua’s bid for the General Secretary position as an example.

Mr Kwakwa also criticised former President John Dramani Mahama, describing him as incompetent and accusing him of repeating mistakes he made during his previous administration.

He said the NPP must take advantage of the period ahead to reorganise its structures, strengthen its grassroots base and reconnect with voters as it prepares for the 2028 elections.

He maintained that with the calibre of executives selected in the Ashanti Region, the party had the capacity to deliver and could not afford to fail.
