The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has extended its deepest sympathies to the management and staff of Pure FM following the recent fire outbreak that gutted the station’s studios in Kumasi.
In an official message signed by the University Relations Officer, Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, KNUST described the incident as a tragic event that has shaken not only the station’s loyal listeners but also its many partners and admirers nationwide.
“This tragic event has shaken not only your devoted listenership but also your many partners and admirers across the country, including us at KNUST,” the statement read.
KNUST praised Pure FM for its long-standing professionalism and unwavering partnership, particularly in the university’s efforts to rebuild its public image following the 2018 campus disturbances.
“Pure FM has, over the years, proven to be more than just a media house. You have been a trusted partner, a staunch ally, and an unwavering pillar in KNUST’s journey to rebuild and reposition its public image,” Dr. Bekoe noted.
The University highlighted the station’s integrity and commitment to truth and national development, describing Pure FM as “an institution in its own right” and “one that Kumasi, the Ashanti Region, and Ghana at large are immensely proud of.”
Despite the physical damage to the station, KNUST expressed confidence in Pure FM’s resilience and ability to bounce back even stronger.
“Though the physical structure may have been affected, your voice, your values, and your vision remain unshaken. We stand with you in this difficult moment and trust that, with the same resilience and determination that defines your work, Pure FM will rise from this setback stronger and more impactful than ever before,” the statement added.
Dr. Bekoe, on behalf of KNUST management and the entire university community, offered assurances of continued support and solidarity with Pure FM during this challenging period.
Pure FM temporarily halted operations after a fire destroyed its studios in Patasi, Kumasi. No injuries were reported, but investigations into the cause of the incident are ongoing.
