Omanhene of Kwahu Traditional Area Refutes False Claims of Destoolment and Enstoolment

The Office of the Omanhene of the Kwahu Traditional Area has firmly refuted recent misleading claims circulating on social media and other platforms regarding the destoolment of Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II as the Kwahuhene.

The statement categorically denies allegations of the enstoolment of Baffour Akoto Osei, who is being falsely referred to as Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III.In an official response issued by the Esono Gyimah Ampong Agyei Palace, it was clarified that the destoolment of Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II has not occurred, as no such process has been carried out in accordance with the customary laws and procedures of the Kwahu Traditional Area. Both Nana Simpe-Owiredu III, the Krontihene of Abene Kwahu, and the Akyemhene of Abene Kwahu were noted to be fully aware that no chieftaincy proceedings had been initiated against Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II.

To underscore the validity of this claim, the Palace referenced a sworn affidavit filed on December 11, 2014, in the High Court in Koforidua under case number C12/42/15. In the affidavit, the Krontihene and Akyemhene confirmed that no destoolment proceedings had been initiated, nor had any destoolment been conducted in accordance with Kwahu customs.

Despite this prior legal declaration, individuals associated with the recent claims are alleged to have falsely carried out the destoolment in a recent video.

The statement further highlighted that such actions are a violation of Section 63 of the Chieftaincy Act, 2008 (Act 759), which makes it a criminal offense for anyone to hold themselves out as a chief without proper adherence to established processes.

The act stipulates penalties, including fines and imprisonment for up to three months, for those who deliberately disregard proper destoolment procedures.

As a result, Baffour Akoto Osei and his accomplices have been reported to the police for investigation under the Chieftaincy Act.

The Office of the Omanhene expressed confidence that appropriate legal measures would be taken to address the issue and safeguard the integrity of the Kwahu Traditional Area.

The statement concluded by urging the public to disregard the false claims and reaffirmed Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II’s position as the rightful Kwahuhene.
